Ya Better Run, Ya Better take Covah!
So sorry I haven't posted in so long my friends! I just arrived in Melbourne after 2 days in Sydney! Internet access has been tricky to come by, but here I am to tell you "G'day." I'm traveling with my good buddy Joshua Radin. We're covering the continent pimping Garden State to anyone who'll listen. Sydney was very pretty and the people are extraordinarily friendly. Unfortunately it's pretty cold and they told me it was summer, so I've been forced to wear the same mink coat everyday.
Thank you all so much for calling (916) Call Turk. I spoke to many people. One guy even had me propose to his girlfriend for him in character. I hope I worded the proposal right to her, or I might technically be engaged right now. The funny thing is, she was like, "OH MY GOD!!!! Yes! Yes! Yes! ... anyway, what's going on with you and Elliot on the show? Are you guys gonna be dating again?"
And Thank You as well for voting for me and Scrubs in the People's Choice Awards. If you didn't get a chance to, you can still vote at pcavote.com. Me and my Show appreciate it highly. Our ratings are just okay, and any recognition like that would help us.
Also, those of you on myspace.com. There is someone who claims to be me who isn't. This is the only place I post on the net, so I don't want anyone thinking whatever that person says or does is me.
I'm off to do a show called, "Rove" tonight in Melbourne. Any of you who live here, please post cool places to go out tonight (Wednesday).
Peace and hot wet love,
ZB
Zach

Hey Zach,
I just wanted say thanks so much for making Garden State! Did you put a spell on the movie? I enjoyed it so much that I had to keep seeing it while it was in the theaters here in Phila. It stayed way longer than I expected, and there were *still* lots of people in the theater in November. Amazing! (my grand total of viewings was 7. I know that sounds a tad scary, but in general I like seeing movies over and over again. . .) Though I have to say, my wallet was really glad when it finally left the theater!! :)
I have some random comments and questions for you. . . My favorite scene was the bathtub scene--it was just so real and tender and emotional. But I can never figure out one of the lines. . . It sounds like Andrew is saying "Pock, it hurts so much." But what is pock? Is that a nickname he has for Sam? Or is he saying fuck? Which doesn't seem to fit with the tone of the scene. . . I would *love* to know about that, if you get a moment to mention it.
Comments on the soundtrack. . . I totally love it!! I particularly like how the themes of the movie match up with specific lines in the songs. For instance, "Do you believe in what you see? Emotionlessly, nothing is real" and "I tried my best to leave this all on your machine."
And I think my all time favorite line in a song is now from Blue Eyes by Cary Brothers "So sublime when the stars are aligned, but you don't know the greatness you are. . . "
I love Bonnie Somerville's song A Long Winding Road. Her music has such a nice style and feel, but there's lots of substance too. I'd love to hear more from her! Is she thinking about making a CD? If so, tell her I would definitely buy it!! I mean, not me specifically. . . But I really think lots of people would like to hear more of her music!!
And lastly, I'll leave you with a silly question. . . What kind of dog do you have, and what is his/her name? For some reason, I dunno why, I have this idea that your dog would have a really zany funny name. :) So do tell, if you feel like it. . . :)
Thank you so much for taking the time to read this, and for making us smile!! Wishing you the best!!
Sparkles,
Maria/Golden Wolf

Ah yay, it's great to hear from you again! Glad to see you're having a good time.. this is actually my first time commenting on your blog though I've been reading it for a while.. anyway, I have so much respect for you (and I do have the general fangirl spasms over you sometimes) but err.. yes, anyway, looking forward to new Scrubs episodes.
I actually called Turk, but I only got his voicemail. Ah well, it was still fun.
So very much love. <3<3<3

Hey Zach!
Next time you're coming to Chicago, let us know. I'd love to meet you! Hey, so are you sure we won't have Garden State released on DVD for Christmas? I gotta know what to put on my list, and that's going to be number 1 if I can! Keep it cool and have fun in Melbourne.
Love,
Ashley

My friend lives down there in Oz, but the only cool places she goes are to the beach and the jungle and class. (She's in grad school.)
Anyway, enjoy DownUnder. It's one of thoes places that I've always wanted to go!
So, when do we start hearing about the next film?

what luck, you're finally in a time zone as funky as my own. its nice to have a fellow traveler out there, one whose home base is fluctuating almost on a daily basis. i've just returned from berlin myself, which imust say took me by surprise. i found myself sitting on the 7th story of a grafitti covered building in east berlin, in a room which must have been a crack house some 20 years ago, overlooking an abandoned amusement park featuring one lit tent. it was perfect, the beacon of hope in a desolate land. how fitting for a city as war torn and historically uprooted as berlin. i wish you could have been there, as i know your photographic eye would have appreciated it as much as my own. if you care to, i've posted some pictures from my travels on my sister's highly under-developed website: www.rosasharn.com.
all the best, enjoy the beauty of the outdoors, as i've been craving a mountain to climb here in london.

p.s. my favorite band is putting on a few reunion shows in the coming weeks, and i think you'd be impressed with their "california soul" music. www.motherhips.com.

if you are indeed engaged you could always gift the mink to your fiance. nothing says love like a fur or diamonds. we women, what can i say, we're easy to please. *ahem*
hope you get to enjoy the sights while you promote the movie, which -- though i've mentioned it before it bears repeating -- i LOVED.

have fun down under.
i laughed about "stretching out her pants part" of the last Scrubs episode for about 8 years. I also loved how it ended. ;o)
thanks for all the good music recommendations.
can't wait for garden state dvd!!

Imposters suck. And yes Turk's answering machine was cool, I think you guys should do more stuff like that on the show. Ohh that would be fun.

I have nothing new to add but I wanted to make sure to add it early.

Hey Zach,
I called 916 call turk but only got voice mail, too bad! It sound like you are having a good time down under. I have never been but it's up next on my list of places to go which is very very long. I guess it's only starting to be summer down there, I know the snowboarding season just ended in NZ a little while ago so it can't be that warm in OZ yet. I hope you enjoy the rest of your trip and have a happy thanksgiving:)

How can Scrubs have "just okay" ratings? It is in the top five of funniest shows on television.
Posted by: Lesley | Nov 23, 2004 10:03:38 AM
Holy cow! I am right at the top of the list of posts!!! woo hoo! I called Turk many times, but no one picked up...just the answering machine. :( I don't know what I would have done if someone as great as yourself answered!! haha. You are so awesome, Zach! Good luck with the people's choice awards and have a great Thanksgiving!

Molly

You know, I find my favourite episodes of Scrubs are always the ones where you manage to hook up with a girl...:o)
question for you to ponder:
What's up with Blue Raspberry flavoured products? Why don't they just call blue stuff Blueberry?
