People's Choice Awards
Hello all,
Thank you to those who have been writing nice things about my nominations for The People's Choice Awards. I was indeed nominated for lead in a TV series, lead in a film and Scrubs was nominated for best TV comedy.
What is particularly funny, is that in the leading man category I am nominated alongside: Brad Pitt, Jude Law, Colin Farrell and Jim Carey. Yes indeed me and my friends had a good laugh about that one. A "Fraggle" has a better shot at winning that award than me. But I'm flattered to be alongside them.
Anyhow, I imagine the PCA's will get a better voter turnout amongst young people then our presidential election, so if you'd like to vote, you can do so at www.pcavote.com.
Garden State news:
I'm going to Australia, New Zealand and Mexico City over Thanksgiving to do press for the release in those Countries and South America.
The Garden State DVD can be pre-ordered now on foxstore.com, but it will officially go on sale on December 28th.
The Soundtrack officially went Gold. I've actually got one of those cool gold records that Elvis has hung all over Graceland. (Check out Graceland if you ever get a shot. It's pretty amazing.)
Awesome Song of the Day (picked by one of you: Morning Dew)
And you guys think I don't read your posts, "Morning Dew" suggested I check out this guy, and I think he's awesome. Here is my favorite track. You can check it out at the iTunes Store (open your iTunes first):
Ray LaMontagne - "Trouble"
*Also, for those of you that watched Scrubs this week, you can actually call Turk's new cell phone number and get his machine. Thought you'd get a kick out of that.
Smile (and put your phone on vibrate),
ZB

did you just finish watching scrubs??? :)
Posted by: jennifer | Nov 9, 2004 10:24:28 PM
No no... you're cuter and funnier than most Fraggles. But to be sure, I'd have to see you in one of those fuzzy yellow cotton candy-like wigs.

I just saw "The Breakfast Club" for the first time (I'm 25). I can't believe I had never seen it, and neither could my boyfriend (30).
There's a point to this. I feel like 'Garden State' is the twenty-somethings' answer to the TBC generation. We realte to this period of transition, and I've talked to so many of my friends and colleages who feel the same. Thank you for this excellent movie. Thank you for making us laugh, cry and have a good time.
I would just like to add that scrubs is the bomb. My dad watches, too, 'cause he says it reminds him of med school and what it was like to work your way up the ranks.
Another music rec: 'Twentysomething' by Jaime Cullum. Amazing.
Cheers, Katy

Oh. And you rule.

What's this? A new post from Zach and I just happened to be first to read it? Yay for me! (small celebration dance) Well, Zach, if I were Brad Pitt, which I might be- you never know, I would be crying like a little baby seeing my name next to yours. Or maybe not, you know, whatever. The PCA just fell in love with you this year, as well they should. Good luck and know that I will be voting. :) (And my vote is the most important...because I say so...?)
Have a wonderful day all of you wonderful FOGS- I'm off to order my GS movie.

Dec 28 is now officially the greatest day ever! Garden State AND Sex & the City!!!!!
Love Scrubs! Love Garden State! Love the Blog! Love your bro's book! (Read it in about 5 hours) More Braff!!!

Hello there
First, I'd like to say, like everyone seems to on this blog, that Garden State was beautiful.
Second, I just watched this week's episode of Scrubs, and oh man, you are hilarious. You really do make me smile.
And third, I can't wait until Chicken Little comes out. I watched the trailor yesterday - and you make one cute chicken. Hahaha.
So, I guess that's it. But maybe I'll ask some kind of question in hopes you might answer it some day...... If you could star in a movie (or write/direct a movie) with an actor/actress who you haven't worked with before, who would it be?
Thanks for being wonderful.
From your Canadian fan and potential friend, Maggie.

What's up Yo!
Garden State was awesome!
You blow me away with your talent!!
The Shins are the best band out right now!
Here is your song of the day Mr. Braff: "High Highs" by Viva Voce. Saw them at Stubbs's in Austin on Sunday, also where I saw the Shins, and I can't get enough of it. Anywho this duo is killer and I think you will likey!!! I would say listen and post your thoughts however Mexico and New Zealand seem like busy trips. Good luck man. And thanks for such great art!!!

Always cool to meet another fan of Granceland. I'm not sure I'd call myself an Elvis fan, but I once dated a guy from Memphis so when I went home with him for the holidays I insisted that we make a pilgrimage. I'm sure I'll never see anything like the Jungle Room for the rest of my natural born life.

Hi Zach, it's my first time posting here (though I've been reading your blog pretty much since from Day 1). Just wanted to say I loved Garden State, love Scrubs, and also thanks for posting such funny and quirky thoughts that make my day a little brighter. Take care!
P.S. I voted for you (:

Zach,
Your dedication to this blog continutes to amaze me. Thanks for being such a friend to the fans. I'll be asking for 'Garden State' for Kwanza. :)

A quote related to People's Choice, people pleasing, etc....
"You can please all of the people some of the time and some of the people all of the time, but you can't eat peanut butter and jelly through your nose." --Fozzie Bear (Not a Fraggle, but still pretty important.)
Garden State was just rereleased here! Yay!
Enjoy New Zealand and happy travels, Stephanie

Great SCRUBS tonight! Have you ever really wanted to step inside the shoes of someone else just for a few seconds? Someone like, oh, I don't know... Julianna Margulies.
To contribute to the ever-growing bank of kick-ass songs: Sondre Lerche's "Sleep on Needles" Unique voice... but lacks those sexy Braff lips.

Hey Zach. So, I just thought you'd like to know that you pretty much deserve the PCA more than those other actors because you singlehandedly wrote and directed a movie that became such a huuggee success at such a young age, while none of those other actors have yet achieved a similar feat. Anyway, basically you're just awesome. I saw you and the Shins on Jimmy Kimmel the other night, and I wanted to also tell you that I completely appreciate your passion for music, especially how you spread the word about up-and-coming artists, because, thanks to you, I'm now in LOVE with Rachael Yamagata's music, as well as Travis and The Shins. So, good luck on receiving your award. You definitely have my vote!

How's it hangin' ZB?
Nice to hear from ya.
Bad news -- Coco called off the Oprah appearance. Something about swollen ischial collosities. Weird. Oh well.
I think we're better off cuz yesterday I asked Coco what he would do for a Klondike Bar and he said "Make out with Oprah."
So wipe your brow for that close call.
Well, taped Scrubs as usual (yoga on Tuesdays), so I'm gonna go curl up in bed with ya -- there's nothing like Zach Braff going backwards.
I'll leave you a cute message on Turk's machine. I promise not to give Coco the number.
Ok, have a fantasterific night.
Goodnight dish.
Love,
Spoon
p.s. CONGRATS on all the nominations, but it's not like we're surprised.
p.p.s. Is the Coco/Oprah thing getting old?
NAHHHHH!!! I'm just joshin' -- I didn't think SO!!
Love ya Zachalicious.
Peace.

Thanks always for sharing the music, I'm a big supporter of the local scene and you're an automatic pimp cuz you share the good stuff with us. If your interested in recommendations...some friends of mine just got signed (today acutally, yay!) and they are friggin' amazing if I do say so myself. If you wanna check 'em out they're called the fray and they have a website at www.thefray.net. Good stuff. Anywho...good luck on the PCA's...I'm off to cast my vote! (c:

Hey Braff man! Thanks for the post. You definately need to continue the blog even after Garden State is on DVD. "Scrubs" was genius again (I am glad to see Doug found his true calling.) I highly recommend a band called "Keane." Their CD is so good and is cheap...$6.99 @ Best Buy or Target. Pick it up when you get the chance or download some tunes on the IPod. Also, I got a radio show with some friends on the internet. We literally started with 10 listeners and grew to hundreds around the world (We got a russian girl named Latrinka listening to us every night!) Is there a chance we could set something up with your people to do an interview? Let me know man and thanks for everything!

Ok, so Coco just called and wanted me to inform you immediately that HE thinks that Brad Pitt, Jude Law, Colin Farrell and Jim Carey are all losers and aren't worthy of being in the same category as you.
You'll have to excuse him because he can be quite the emotional chimp (though I concur -- we're pretty sure you're going to kick their asses).
Later, skater.
