Zach,
I've been feeling the buzz from this movie floating around like a burning halo for a new king to crown. I'm from New Jersey but when the folks spilt when i was 10 I moved to Seattle. Then at 20 moved back to New Jersey to become closer with my father and his family. But, somehow i felt alone more than ever. So i moved back. I'm a aspiring Screenwriter and always wanted to write about my journey and about life in New Jersey. But, it seems "Garden State" hits that nail. Thanks, Finally a Movie that i can just simply Enjoy! Bravo, zach! Bravo.

I'm so excited for this film. I missed you (Zach) at a Birmingham, MI screening about a month ago. My press source told me about it a day late. I was crushed. As an indie filmmaker with one tiny film under his belt in my career thus far, it's fantastic to see a film like Garden State take of so wonderfully. Your trailers are powerful and moving... I can't wait to see the entire film. Mark my words, Zach. You're gonna hear my name and my films within a few years... I'll shake your hand and thank you for making this film within 2 years. I predict this will fall on my top 5 list alongside another Natalie Portman film: Beautiful Girls.

Congrats, thanks for raising the spotlight on independent cinema. I think it's awesome you post and respond in this blog. You have more respect from us fans and fellow filmmakers than you can ever know.

I have not seen this movie yet (because it hasn't come out here) but the trailers look good. I was wondering if the movie is in any way based on the book The Perks of Being a Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky? It has similar aspects to it so I just wanted to know...thanks.

Hey,
I've seen the traielrs and think they're awesome. Im an Australian and wondering whether Garden State will reach here at all (particularly Sydney). If not, Ill need a name of someone who can ship illegal copies. Either will do in the end (I hope).

Hey Zach! It looks like the premiere went well! Thanks for posting the pics and I wish I could have been there to support you. You looked rather spiffy! My best wishes to you and your family. Try not to kill any of them while they are there. ; ) I've got a bunch of family descending upon me in the next couple of weeks. I'll miss my bed. Sigh.

Zach,
Looking quite spiffy there. Now you know when you're rubbing elbows with hobbits you are going places, my friend! Wish I could have been at the premiere and still dying to see the movie (and buy the soundtrack!). And remember, e-mails are our friends.

yeah thats turk, donald faison

I really like to see you and Donald outside of the show. You two have the greatest on screen relationship in recent years, it only makes sense that it would transcend the screen.

Zach,
This is easily one of my most anticipated movies of the year but can you tell me when it will premiere in Australia.

Cheers

These pictures make me want to see it more and more! I have been excited for it ever since I saw the first trailer for it, which I think was in March.

This past school year my bio teacher made it a regular habit for us to watch the trailer. He's also a huge "Scrubs" fan. We'd walk into the classroom and he'd be watching the trailer on his computer and then put it on the screens for us. This was fine with me, since I was already addicted to it myself. :) Have fun!

Looks like the premiere was a blast. I can't wait to hear about it. One week til it opens here in Boston! The anticipation is killing me.

I am poor in NYC, any free screenings around town?

Posted by: Brian | Jul 21, 2004 8:01:48 AM

For the love of God, is no one gonna say anything about what appears to be some sort of sweater-vest and tie combination that you're wearing? Tequila shots AFTER dressing, not before.

Posted by: cw | Jul 21, 2004 8:25:30 AM

You look a bit overwhelmed in the first picture and look as if your looking for the closest exit.

Maybe that's just my take. :D

Just discovered this lovely blog--very nice! I have been dying to see this movie for so long now. Not being in NY or LA it will still be a couple of weeks but when it does arrive I plan on being to the first show!

I really loved the teaser trailer, just the images and a great song. In fact I bought 'Let it Go' from iTunes based on it. I will look for the tv commercial especially as the Scrubs marathon was already scheduled on the tivo.

Keep making films!

Zach,

Well there isn't much left to say that your fans haven't already expressed in one way or another. You're probably a little sick of everyone telling you (or not, I don't mean to presume) how amazing your movie is, but I'm just one of those people that needs to stick their 2 cents in. I'm a 22 year old married mother of one from Nova Scotia, Canada, so I probably won't get to see your movie living in such a remote part of the country, but I've been following the previews, and the website. This movie means a lot to me, because I've been forcibly drugged up by parents since I was 16. No one has listened to me when I try to tell them I just want to get out of this fog an live my life. And now that I've done that, i realize there isn't much of a life to live because everyone's been making my decisions for me. But gloominess aside, the film has given me hope that I can wake up and get my life back. Thanks for sharing this with the rest of the world.

I actually really like the sweater vest/tie combo. Its so preppy school boy of you Zach. I think the black blazer really makes the outfit though.

Oh and I'm glad to see that Donald made it to the premiere. I hope you lived up your debut with all of your friends and family around!

I read your interview/article in Time magazine just now and was thinking about how the author seemed to call you "cocky" in a way. Pfft?! While I don't know you personally and really can't pass that judgement, how do you feel about that? Do you feel it's warranted? Either way, it's obviously getting good PR! Keep posting, I'm laughing out loud at work.
