Blog unto Others...

Dear friends,

Sorry I've been MIA for so long. This is just a quick post to say I'm still here and I'm gonna post a long message soon, but I've just been stupid, silly busy finishing "The Last Kiss" and moving to Manhattan to start up "Fast Track" right away. As I can barely keep my eyes open, I'm not gonna say to much other than this:

1) Those of you who have been having some sort of verbal battle on the comments section of this blog. Please stop. That is not what this site is about and it is certainly not what I am about. There are an infinite number of places to be mean and unkind on the internet, please don't do that here. Talk about ANYTHING you like, write poetry, tell me about your day, ask me anything, you can even yell at me for not posting and write "you probably don't even read this, but...", just don't argue about meaningless shit here. The fact that the people on this blog are so cool and friendly is the reason I've kept doing it.

2) Check out Lori McKenna, "Beautiful Man" on iTunes. It will make you feel warm and fuzzy and sad and happy and lonesome all at the same time. (Now that's quality art!)

3) Smile; Bobby and Whitney do.

love,
zb

Good to hear from you again Zach. Word of advice for downtime during filming: get yourself a PSP. I've been playing this Wipeout game like it's my job. That, and convince Fox to release Garden State on UMD. That's the only movie right now I'd be willing to shell out for again just to have in my back pocket to watch at anytime.

Posted by: Benjamin | Jul 11, 2005 6:50:28 PM

Holy crap I'm one of the first ten! :) I had no idea about the bickering. Perhaps people here just get antcy when you haven't been around for so long. Anywhoo I'm glad your'e back :D

Sorry you had to see the bickering. I have been too busy with film classes to see what all that is about but foryou to complain must be bad.

By the way I noticed you were on Martha Stewart?!?! How wierd. My mom watches that show and she called me and said "that boy you like from that doctor show is on Martha". I was like whaaa? But I guess here in canada they air the older episodes.

Zach you should seriously check out Stars they rock my world. I'm sure you've heard of them since you were in Montreal and all but regardless http://arts-and-crafts.com/stars There you go :) Have a great night/day whatever time it is you celebrities are on.

I hope you had a fine day today, I was boiling hot and me and our friends went to swim and we foung a dead rat in the pool, all I can say is that it involved alot of shrieking. So that was the moment of the day brought to you by me... I hope you get some sleep and write back soon. :P

hoping to hear of you soon

I just bought Garden State and loved it! I love when directors take risks and make something compleley unique then what is out there. I also love the soundtrack, amazing!! I just wanted to say i admire your work; acting, directing and writing.

Posted by: Lisa | Jul 11, 2005 6:58:33 PM

Zach!!!!

I knew you were going to post soon, I can't believe I am one of the first to write back. We missed you, baby!

You were cute in People's eligible bachelor edition (or whatever it was called), paintball as a first date, yeah, right! You're too much of a romantic for that.

I'm bummed that Scrubs won't be on until midseason, what is wrong with those network executives????

I've made two trips to Canada recently and thought of you but it was British Columbia both times so I wouldn't have run into you - didn't run into Jen or Ben either, who have been in Vancouver lately.

I finally bought an Ipod and one of these days I'm going to re-read your whole blog and check out all your recommended songs! Of course I ripped the GS soundtrack to it right away. BTW, doesn't the new Coldplay album rock?? I'm going to see them August 19 in the San Francisco Bay Area.

Thanks so much for writing - as Jewish grandmothers say, "you never call, you never write..." Once a month is better than nothing! We love you.

Peace,
Anna C.

Hey Zach,
Glad to see you are still with us, I hope your flurry of a world slows down soon so you can take a breather. Also last night the people behind my house were being moronically loud at 1:30 in the morning and my wireless was bugging out. I popped the GS soundtrack into my player and was immediatly in a happy and less sadistic mood. I thank you and I am sure my neighbors thank you, mostly because I didnt send my "attack" dog at them. He isnt much of an attack dog, the only thing he attacks is a stuffed replica of a squirell(quite lifelike) and sometimes me if I dont feed him at 5 o'clock sharp.

zach
can you give us a hint about music that could be heard on the upcoming season of scrubs? You ever thought about putting Elliot Smith on? His music, as i'm sure everyone knows, would fit in perfect with some of the past music.

Posted by: mike | Jul 11, 2005 7:02:53 PM

oh P.S.

its cool that you dont want your blog to turn into a verbal battlefield...

If it still continues, can you please ignore it and not hold it against the the people who are here to talk about their day or ask you questions or write poetry...

Dont be like (for example) Adam Duritz who hardly ever posts anymore and when he does its just to have a go at the "extremely unpleasant people" on his message board..

Z-Unit,

You haven't really talked about the current status of next season's Scrubs. Maybe you have and I'm just a bad reader. I did always score low on the Reading Comprehension parts of those standardized tests. Oh well... what's the scoop? When should I plan on reinstating my "Tuesday nights at Sacred Heart" get-togethers. No, I didn't really have those... but I should. Also, I thought I would share this with you, as it is a true testament to your awesomeness. I am a Music Therapist at a nursing home in Minneapolis and one of my residents (a 87 year old resident to be exact) asked me if our next movie viewing could be Garden State. No joke. She didn't know your name, mind you, but you can't win them all.

Peace, Love, and Cottonelle~

Wow, after coming to you blog for about 6 months I guess it's finally time I actually posted something in here, yes? Hmmm, now that I've started, I haven't a clue as to what to say... think Ian, think... uhhhh... Scrubs! That's a good show, yes? Yes. Garden State... good movie, yes? Yes. Is Zach the pimp daddy? Ohhh you better believe it. Is it bad that everytime some says something about pimps or pimping that I think of that dream scene in scrubs with Zach and Donald strolling into the hospital in full pimp gear? Or is it worse that the people in my circle talk about pimps that often? Hmmm... I need to consult my Kaballah guru for this one. I guess that's all for now.

Peace and love

whoa... it's amazing how quickly the comments accumulate on these things. you have quite a fan following, buddy!

So you said we can post about our day? haha cool... Mine hasn't been very exciting. I was going to paint, but then my mom called and reminded me of all the other things I aught to be doing instead..and the list was so overwhelming that I basically gave up on everything. Love those days.

I'm listening to the Wicked soundtrack on repeat. It's incredible. Do you ever make it to Broadway? I'd die to see that show...

Well thanks for reading! lovely days to all ~

hi zach,
i've been busy making movies with kids at summer camp, but i've been waiting for your return. (to the blog, not from canada!) speaking of canada, would you recommend moving there? it's time for a change and i'm thinking about it (pronounced aboat). sorry, i'm watching degrassi. which is not why i want to move to canada. anyway, i'm rambling which really sucks since i KNOW you will read this. too much time in the sun, i guess. i hope you are not feeling lonely even though you are recommending such a wistful song. take care of yourself and enjoy your life!

Posted by: stephanie | Jul 11, 2005 7:11:39 PM

dear zach, why are you such a genious? PS. you need to listen to Guster. specifically, the songs Mona Lisa and Demons. Oh, and what's it like being a part of something bigger than yourself (GS and Scrubs)?

Posted by: dave | Jul 11, 2005 7:12:03 PM

hey zach...you've definately been gone a LONG time! But your busy, it's understandable...so I guess this is me yelling at you for not writing enough? I hope you have a great day/week/month or whenever you get back to this...

Well, that is pretty sad that people resort to dissing each other on your blog. How'd you like Montreal? Did you get to try out some Tim Hortons?? That's a staple in Canada. I even work at one! Timbits are the way to go. Anyway blog more because it makes my day and keep telling us good music, because my supply of new music is decreasing at a rapid pace because all the tv shows, including scrubs aren't telling me what songs to listen to anymore! Good luck on your movies and BLOG MORE OFTEN! thanks! stay classy

If you are looking for a book to adapt into a movie I suggest "After" by Francine Prose. All my fellow commentees should check it out as well. Be sure you are aware its rather disturbing, not in a gory or sexual way just, "Whoa" disturbing.

Hey Zach,
so good to hear again from you. I already told you (from Spain) how I felt about your work in GS, so I don't have much more to say, only that I'm visiting Philly for two months on a very busy schedule (lectures, reading, work), but I couldn't miss the opportunity to visit New Jersey. And that's your job :) I already did and I already love it.

It's strange for me, anyway that you came back precisely on this day, the 11th July, a day for all of us to remember, the anniversary of the fall of Srebrenica and the failure of the West to be fair and human. I'm not Bosnian, I'm from that Western world. For me it's an important day and I only wish it were for much more other people.

Sorry for bringing this here, but this is part of love, life and growing.
Good luck in Manhattan,
can't wait to see what your work in The Last Kiss,
hug,

OMG!!!!!! i just noticed the little "Video Post" thing... I love you. you're so adorable..you're a few years older than me, but I think I can still call you adorable... It would make my life if you and all these other people were still posting on this thing when we're all 75, give or take a few years. Garden State will still be the most incredible movie of all time, that I saw with my incredible best friend (accidentally!) on opening night, that came at EXACTLY the right time (emotionally speaking) for both of us, and and....yeah. That's all. You're my favorite. Maybe I'll paint YOU one of these days...hahaha... peace.

Posted by: Eliza (the same one as above..) | Jul 11, 2005 7:26:23 PM

I nominated Scrubs early and often on the Zap2It boards for the Amy Awards....sorry you didn't get nominated for the Hot in Here award (neither did Donald "Yummy" Faison, sigh)... But Cox's long-winded quote about everything he could care less about did receive a "best quote" nom.
Glad you're back. Pick up the new Son Volt album, you won't be sorry.
Love & kisses.

my day!

summer school for SEVEN hours. and I cut the grass in our backyard. and then I unloaded the dishwasher! oh it was exiting.

and I took a fun animal quiz!

"You're a Three-Toed Sloth!
Reputed as being lazy and even shiftless, you take a very relaxed
approach to life. It's not that you don't want to do anything, it's just that it's so
fascinating to hang out in the clouds and while away the hours grabbing a light snack.
It's hard for you to understand why the rest of the world doesn't just chill out a
little. You love roller coasters that take you upside-down."

you just made my day SO much better. you really can't beat that three-toed sloth though.

thanks for the song suggestion. 'beautiful man' is wonderful. much love and many hugs,

p.s. would you consider posting a downloadable/savable(not very articulate, sorry) version of that little video? so that I can have it on my computer all the time, to watch when I want a little warm fuzzy feeling of companionship when I'm lonely in my internet-lacking dorm room this winter? for me and the rest of these fanatics... it would be such a good deed..

Hey-
I think this is a very cool blog! I must be getting old because when I first started playing online (many years ago!) we only had 'member profiles'! Guess we have come a long way! I have tried to start my own blog/webpage, but it is quite boring actually! Hey Zach,
Feels weird typing to a guy i don't know. Anyway, I just wanted to say thanks. The twenty-somthings I know, myself included, are just stricken by how unbelievably awesome you can be. You, in creating Garden State, have given me something to relate to when I feel two dimensional.
Goodnight, Jen from Tampa

Hey, Zach. I've always loved Scrubs and was so excited for Garden State to come out. Well, I still love Scrubs (your performance as J.D. is great!), and I'm enjoying watching the DVD of the first season; and I watch Garden State every so often, and listen to the soundtrack frequently.

Speaking of the soundtrack, I saw The Shins perform in Denver, CO, on May 10. I knew of them before Garden State, though, as the song "New Slang" was used adorably in an early episode of Scrubs.

Speaking of Garden State, it holds special meaning for me and my boyfriend of six months. Since you might enjoy reading such personal & random stories, and because I'm rambling anyway, I will tell you the story of how Garden State is important to Kevin and me.

We met on January 1 this year through a mutual friend, although it wasn't a set-up. I knew this friend, Liz, because she was roommates with my best friend in their sorority. (We go to the University of Colorado at Boulder.) It was Winter Break, so most people went home. I stayed in Boulder because I'm from California, and since I love it here so much better than my lame hometown, I don't go home often. Liz also stayed in Boulder, but she is from the Denver area. We were hanging out in my apartment, watching Sex and the City episodes until we got bored. Liz, being in a sorority, was used to a lot more going on, while I'm always perfectly content hanging out with just one person and chillin'. She started calling friends from high school (who didn't go to CU, thus people she doesn't see a lot). She happened to call Kevin (he goes to CU-Denver), who happened to be in downtown Denver about to see some independent, artsy film. This was the first thing I learned about him, that he likes the artsy films, not big blockbusters. He invited Liz and me to see the movie in Denver, but we figured out that Liz and I couldn't get down there in time. Liz suggested that Kevin come up to Boulder to hang out with us. Since Liz told me what they were talking about on the phone while they were on the phone, I heard that Kevin liked independent films, so I told Liz to tell him that I have Garden State on DVD (it had just come out four days prior). He hadn't seen it, but had been wanting to. So Kevin agreed to come to my apartment. When he got there, Liz and Kevin caught up for a few minutes, and then we watched the movie. After the movie, we all talked. Kevin and I were the primary participants in the conversation, as it turned into intellectual subjects and politics, my passion and academic concentration (political science), and Liz isn't well-educated in the area. We talked for hours, until they both left around 2 am.

I could continue telling you how that story evolved, but I won't. I just wanted to let you know that I introduced Kevin to Garden State, a movie that means a great deal to me, and now one that holds a great deal to Kevin because of how much I like it and wanted to show it to him. We watched it together again on July 1 to pay homage to our first meeting.

Anyway, I love your work, and, even though I'm in a wonderful and serious relationship, Kevin is well aware of the fact that you are on my list (no, not hit list; my list of celebrities that I'm allowed to sleep with, hahaha).

I can't wait to follow your career more in your upcoming projects, and I will, of course, keep watching Scrubs.

Word! I just love bringing back lingo that never made it big. How's it going? I'm doing good, just taking my summer easy. Been reading some good books. I like to think of myself as a writer, short stories mostly, although i've come to dabble in script writing. Don't really know the format, but i'm just having fun putting down ideas. Not sure if that's something i should think about majoring when i graduate from high school next year. I bought scrubs season 1, very awesome. Sorry you had the flu, i got the flu about two years ago and i had a flu shot that year too, i should have gotten a refund. Guess i'll let you go. Peace!

Hey Zack,
I am glad that you want you keep this blog nice and all that good shit... most people wouldn't care. Anyways, I noramly just read what you post and never comment because I figured that you had enough to read without me adding to it. This time I thought what the hell, and also I started thinking it is a bit creapy to read and not respond. Someone just hanging on to the out side of life not really telling anyone they are there. I am here! I just thought you would want to know. (big smiles)

I've never posted on this, but on the off chance that you are in Manhattan, I wanted to recommend checking out Momus and Mai Ueda at the Zach Feurer gallery. If I had to wager, I'd bet you and a lot o f the people reading this blog are Momus fans, and if you are in the area, he is there for while doing a visual art performance. Truth be told, I'm suggesting this to everyone I know that is in or headed to NYC, because it perversely makes me feel better about the fact I am unable to attend myself.

Scrubs season one dvd kick major ass. Only complaint is that i wish there was more commentaries, cuz i sometimes i ponder whats the backstory of some episode, or when theres a crazy wacky daydream segment and many other stuff.
Can't wait for scrubs season 2 on DVD, and its a bummer that its six more months til new scrubs.

God I love you ;-). Garden State, like you've probably heard a million times, changed my life. And just a quick question: any comments about Orlando Bloom's Elizabethtown? The premise is roughly the same as GS...I hate to see movies get copied and rehashed out badly. Besides, yours is completely original and no one can take that away from you :-).

I'm glad you are keeping busy, I hope you are fitting in some summer fun while you're at it! I know you've got to get your work done while on hiatus though, so I understand being pretty busy.

Speaking of poetry, do you happen to have a favorite poet? I know you read quite a bit, so I thought maybe you had ventured out into the world of prose...I love the way it forces you to really read each line and sort it out. Something I'd think an actor would understand, akin to reading a script and sorting out the various feelings and sublevels going on...

Talk to you soon!

Yo Zach!

Garden State was some incredible work, biggest way to make a name for yourself, I'd say. It's about time this kind of movie got made. Anyway, you should check out Pernice Brothers, they're pretty cool and right up your alley, but chances are you've probably already heard of them. Good luck in the future, keep writing/directing, we all want to see more from you.

Your random fact for the day --

While flipping channels on Sunday (always a bad idea), I came across TLC's A Makeover Story. It featured a guy who looked fairly similar to you, had a similar-sounding voice, and had the same mannerisms as your character in Garden State.

It kinda freaked me out.. Made me wonder if you had oozed out of my DVD player and were taking over all of cable TV. Not that this would be a bad thing. .

Carry on.

Hey ZB,

I was wondering whether you will have creative control of a "The Last Kiss" soundtrack. Because I think we'd all agree that would be absolutely awesome.
I have recently taken to finding a secluded spot to eat my lunch. This particular spot is a river bank, not particularly impressive as river banks go. But id Lay on the grass and listen to music from GardenState and Scrubs. Plus various other stuff I really like. It was so peaceful, it has become like a daily ritual.

From a Minnesotan who was not impressed with seeing Lindsay Lohan in St. Paul, can't you just pop by the Pazzatluna in St. P and make all our dreams come true?

No, just kidding. Your probably just as bored as we all are living in lake/dairy country and you want out too.

If you see Lindsay tell her to get a bigmac.

Big hugs and kisses from the winter state,

Wasn't that the name of zach's band on "saved by the bell"?

Silly internet drama makes me laugh. I have no idea what went down, but keep the drama on livejournal where it belongs. haha.

Loved garden state, made me fall for Peter Sarsgaard which is no offense to you cause you are absolutely a cool guy from what I can tell. Did you know there was a viewing party from something you filmed at Northwestern? The students found it with initials ZB. They figured it was yours when that one scene was also in Garden State. When will you come back to the neighborhood of Chicago? Lots of stuff being filmed here these days! We could use someone other than Vince Vaughn in our celebrity sightings pages...ha

Zach,

I comment on each journal entry you write. Garden State is probably one of my favorite movies of all time and I can't say enough about the soundtrack. I think you keeping this blog is awesome. I always look forward to coming here and seeing what is new and what you're working on. I think it is cool you told us to tell you about our lives! Well... I am 28 and live in Nashville for now... I am originally from New York. So watching any movie from "up North" will always remind me of home. Well... have fun in Manhattan when you go there! :-) ~ Nina

i think its awesome that you still post in here and read the comments and everything. i dont know why but it makes me really happy that you're still keeping in touch with us Garden State fans almost a year after the movie was released.

i watched it the other night for the first time since january or something. it was wonderful.

oh and i dont know if ive said this in here yet but when my ex-boyfriend first started dating me he knew i really loved Garden State and we live in livingston. so he watched the movie and found the places where it was filmed in our town and brought me there. i thought it was the most romantic thing ever.

this is getting kind of long so im going to end it.

i cant wait for you to leave that long detailed post. and thank you for caring about your fans. its amazing.

Woot! I've missed you blogging, and now here you are. <3

So, um... glad you're keeping busy still 'cause for all the other reasons I've said before that you may or may not remember.

Hm, let's see. Well, I haven't really got a lot to say, besides it a shame people are aruging in your comments. Crazy people.

Oh, right, and, as always, it would be crazy cool to meet you. I had a dream that I met you while I was helping Ewan McGregor look for a spying device that his pet chimpanzee lost (what? I dream weird!), and you were cool and I told you you should be a villian in Batman and you said you loved me (in a not romantic way) and tried to kiss me on the cheek but then we had to run away from the mafia(what?) and we lost Ewan and there were lots of brightly colored houses and then I woke up.

Do you believe in telepathy or anything supernatural like that? I kind of do, in a "it'd be cool to be able to" way but not in a "people can actually do it" way. Yea, didn't I just say I couldn't think of anything to write? It's not my fault, I feel relatively comfortable babbling at you because 1) I would love to just sit and talk to you 2) I don't have to worry about blushing, stammering, or your reaction, as you're miles and miles away from me and even should we someday meet in person you won't remember this. How cool is that? Hah!

Hmm. So, I am re-reading all the Harry Potter books in anticipation of Friday, when the sixth book comes out. I might dress up when I go to a local bookstore at midnight for my copy, and I'm, you know, 20 so it's not like I have a good excuse. But you know about dressing up and playing pretend, you do it for a living. Just not geeky stuff like Harry Potter(as far as I know).

Ho-hum. I think I'm done babbling for now, and just to maybe hopefully decrease your weirded out feeling, I do actually have a boyfriend and I get out of the house sometimes and I'm not stalking you, I just enjoy replying to your post and trusting that you're reading.

Stay Awesome!

Yeah people fighting through blogs are pretty uncool...I have a blog that has the most utterly random crap on it...pictures of funny things and zany situations that happen to me and my seemingly mundane life...yet it seems to be a breeding ground for those dill holes! I guess calling them dill holes doesn't help but oh well!

p.s. I put the "ool" in cool...without me it would just be "c" and there is nothing hardcore about "c"... just thought you should know how i roll

Zach,

I've been in Guateloupe (the French one, not Mexican - people keep telling me I'm pronouncing it wrong, but I swear, it's just "the other" Guateloupe!) for the past week, and I came home to a post from you, and that made me very happy. I'm going to be in Manhattan in two weekends, maybe I'll run into you there, haha =) My friend who goes to NYU once ran into Steve Martin... so who knows, right?

I don't know if you'll ever specifically respond to this question, but do you have a fan mailing address? I tried to look it up but couldn't make any real progress. I would like to write you a letter, in the least creepy stalker way that I can. Despite the busyness, I hope all is well with you!

Hi Zach.

today I had a nectarine and it was the best nectarine I have ever had. tomorrow I will try my luck with the apricots.

thanks for posting!

Hello there Mr. Zach.

If you haven't heard "Ignorance" by Lori McKenna, be sure to do so....it's fantastic.

And, by the way, your lucky that you are no longer in Montreal - it's about, oh, a gazillion degrees out?

Did you know that sometimes hay will spontaneously combust? Well, it's been so hot, I'm surprised that I haven't.

Posted by: Hannah | Jul 11, 2005 8:37:48 PM

hi zach! i lent my friend my copy of garden state and he's never given it back. i met with an ex-boyfriend today for dinner and we hashed out all our funk. it was kinda neat. afterwards i went to a music store and learned about mandolins. i think i'm going to go to the local bluegrass festival. i don't know if you like bluegrass, but it's really neat music. i'm learning more about it. this coming weekend is the Comic-Con festival. if you've never been you should definitely hit it up sometime. i've never posted a comment before, but i just want to let you know that i believe you read these so...mwah! big kiss for you my love. best of luck on all your endeavors. garden state was great and so are you.

Posted by: jennifer | Jul 11, 2005 8:38:11 PM

Hey Zach,

GUESS WHAT!!!!!!

I got into medical school!!!! Yay. I am sooo freakin' excited. You know how you felt when Garden State did SOOOOO well in theaters...well, that is how I feel now. I love studying medicine, and I just thought I'd share my excellent news with you. In case you're wondering, like most people I tell, I would like to specialize in either neurology or oncology (brain or cancer). Life is so good right now, and I only have about 3 weeks left until school starts.

Good luck with all your current and future projects! If you ever need an excellent brain or cancer doctor (which, I hope you don't...), you should find me!

Bye!

Zach Braff is an amazing man,
He does not sit upon the can,
He makes movies that are rad,
I want him to be my babies dad,
But since I'm not legal lets just say,
That Zach Braff totally "Makes my day",
I can't wait to see Last Kiss,
It'll totally be Zach Braff Bliss,
Oh Zach you make me jump for joy,
Your an incredible sort, a talented boy,
And when something silly is ever said,
A certain man knocks on my head.

ZACH BRAFF
ZACH BRAFF
ZACH BRAFF

Zach Braff wrote/directed/starred in Garden State,
In case you didn't know that MOVIES IS GREAT!,
It sparked many an intelligent debate,
And fans world wide will silently wait,

A sequal Perhaps?
That'd be hot, paris hilton, no I'm not,
But hey maybe I could be, But hot as Zach Braff? I WOULD NOT BE!

Oh Zachary Braff you were great in Scrubs, the show,
Just in case you didn't know,
I saw you on it a long time ago,
I stopped changing the channel,
Because you mezmerized me so

Oh Zach Braff- The places you will go!

Er - this was a totally cheezy but incredibly (AWE!)-inspiring poem, brought to you be Ilana Jacqueline of WWW.ilanaWrites.com

Zach Braff is the SAUCE!

Since it is doubtful that anyone will actually attempt to read these comments, it seems like a lost cause, but ...

As a helpful wink and nudge, you've got a link tag that isn't working somehow in your RSS feed. Fix it or not at your discretion, but I wanted to let you know before you catch hell over it. Whoever "you" are.

Yay! A new post! I love you Zach, you are amazing. Can't wait to check out your song recommendation.

So, I'm due to have a baby in 2 months - got any name suggestions? It's a boy, so suggest away.

I started knitting and I remember you said that the freakiest gift you received was a knitted sweater for your dog with his name on it. Well, while totally odd and yes, a bit freaky, whoever knitted it probably spent a lot of time on it. Knitting can be a real pain in the ass, especially if you fuck it up and have to undo it all and start over (I seem to be an expert on that part of it).

Anyway, that's too bad people have been leaving nasty comments to eachother. Hey, I guess that shows that you do read these then, huh?

Can't wait to see The Last Kiss when it comes out, and I'll probably take my daughter to see Chicken Little when it comes out, all because I think you are so awesome.

Lots of love

So people in Canada finally got to see you get Punk'd. I laughed a lot. I would have laughed harder if you had actually hurt the kid. Damn you and your ability to restrain yourself.

Take care! And come back to Canada soon!

Aw, Manhattan! I just returned yesterday from my first trip to NYC. And I'm already thinking about all the things I'll do the next time around. Not to say I missed much the first time but there sure is a lot to do. And a lot to learn. Like... think twice about entering Times Square unless you're waiting in line for tickets at the TKTS booth. And rushing tickets for "Wicked" is next to impossible with their silly lottery system.
I saw fireflies for the very first time ever in Central Park on my way to "As You Like It" at the Delacorte Theatre on Saturday night, July 9th. (I was running late to the show so I unfortunately couldn't stop in my flight through the park down 79th St to fully soak in the magical atmosphere. California certainly misses out on fireflies. I suppose they just make New York that much more special.)
Murray's Bagels... damn good. And the Chocolate Bar in Greenwich Village... you must have the spicy hot chocolate. And what is up with the pickles and coleslaw? Totally didn't expect that at delis but now that I mention it, I guess it makes sense.
I got to see Kathleen Turner and Bill Irwin in "Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?" If your schedule allows, you must see that play, if you haven't already. Kathleen Turner turns out an incredible performance. And Bill Irwin! I've loved this guy since "My Blue Heaven" and if you've ever seen him do his piece "The Marionette," you know what a crazy command this man has over his body. And his acceptance speech at the Tonys!? How could you not totally respect this man! I was lucky enough to get his autograph after the show and he just radiated with humbleness, if that's a word. Okay, enough ranting about Bill Irwin. He's cool.
And I've had the music from "Dirty Rotten Scoundrels" stuck in my head ever since I've returned.
Obviously I saw a lot of shows. But it's New York. I'm not in New York every day.
I'm going to miss all the walking. Most of California isn't really set up for that activity, not like New York or London or most big cities.
Well I'll let you get on with the rest of the posts. Enjoy Manhattan and the 30 minute thunderstorms. (Those are so fun!)
Say hello to the fireflies for me.

Hey Zach,
I don't know if you'll get to read this one, I'm kinda like, right in the middle, last time you read mine, it was cuz i was like at the very last and easy to get to. Anyways, you said the name Bobby in your last blog and I am sooooo hopin that meant me. That would be sooo cool, cuz then I could tell my friends like, "Zach Braff said mentioned me in a blog" and they'll be like, "no he didn't, your stupid" and I'll be like, "no he did" and then they will say no, and we'll proabably get into a long debate and end up hating eachother, which is still cool, cuz my name was said in a ZB blog! Lol, but w/e. I actually probably won't end up telling anyone, I'll keep it as one of those special secrets that you don't ever tell ne one, cuz its a lot cooler just to have it in your head, rather than out in the open for everyone to know and possess. Yea, well, this is dumb, but I"m going to put my email address at the end of all my posts, in hopes that one day, you might email me. Its a cool little dream, or at least I think. Good luck w/your new movies and stuff man. I can not wait to see "Last Kiss". Bye.

Hey Zach!

Dude, that's so not cool that people were corrupting your blog with drama. You're gonna have to have moderators come in to make sure they stay out. :p

Finished the first seasons Scrubs DVD already. Should've paced myself. Or, we're (my roommate and I) now watching it again to show our friend who used to be an EMT. He finds it hilarious too.

Like every girl in Manhattan, I'm gonna ask you out too. I even have a bf. He doesn't mind coffee and a chat. I don't even mind if you have a whole harem there to chat for coffee. You're just the sunshine on so many of us for your humor, your talent, and your honesty.

Keep on,
--Kriste

Wheeeeeeeeee!

You posted-ed!

It's funny - due to massive home renovations/house-sitting, I've been computerless for the last few weeks, (it's been strangely liberating). So, today, I finally got to turn on a PC, check my email, and sneak a peak at my fave sites - (hello Defamer!).
Happily, this is the day you posted!

Cool.

Well, hope you're taking care of yourself during this fortuitous time in your working life.

I'll be in NYC for all of August and, again, strangely, I am looking forward to it. Let's hope the easy-goingness/quietness of that time of year will prove to be both awesome and fantastic. (Hello ghost-town formerly known as the Upper East Side!).

Bring on the new MOMA -

Alright.

Much love to you,

Adele H.

WHAT THE FUZZY!!!!! Hey Zach, thank you for posting!! THANK YOU!!! Sounds like you're crazy busy :(

My day? You want to know about my day? I'm a work and as usual, surfing the net ... during my lunch-hour! It's a cold and bleak in Melbourne at the moment and it gets tougher and tougher to get out of bed in the morning. I got told off on the way to work by a transit guy. Being the sensitive, emotional soul that I am, I just wanted to bawl my eyes out. But I have perked up now, reading your latest blog. I am going to get hold of your song recommendation ... sounds like it's just the thing I need ... chicken soup for my soul.

Hang in there Zach!! and thanks again for stopping by.

Later days, Angela

hey i'm a reporter from singapore and am doing a review on your dvd release of "garden state"... i didnt realise that you shot "chariot" for gavin degraw! he's good stuff and i enjoyed that video. good job!

Posted by: lun | Jul 11, 2005 9:04:50 PM

woah.

i just watched Garden State for the first time[yeah yeah, i'm probably the last person on Earth to see it :S], and i am in complete love. the casting was great- Natalie Portman has been my favorite actress for a long time, and i can relate to her character in so many ways [it's kinda scary.]

i am a fan of Scrubs, so i figured it couldn't be too bad since you were so involved with it and all that jazz, i am so glad i decided to buy the DVD.

this movie is exactly what i needed to see [emotionally speaking].

the soundtrack is awesome too, Iron & Wine's version of 'Such Great Heights' is great, you should check out the version by The Postal Service [awesome band!].

well i think that i have rambled enough. i added your lj syndication too. keep up with the superb song recommendations <3

Posted by: kaylie | Jul 11, 2005 9:04:52 PM

my day:

my boyfriend and i broke up. there was so much sadness hanging in the air you could have sucked it up with a straw.
and it's funny cuz i just kept seeing natalie in my head, crying "it's like real life tradgety or something"
well, it's not actually funny. just odd, really.

now a new chapter begins.
literally, too. i started writing a book a few weeks ago and i'm sure there'll be a chapter about this, also.

i'm glad i was turned on to iron and wine. thnx a million for that.
and i'm glad that garden state showed how others deal with pain. bc sometimes as humans, we forget how to and still keep hope for a better day.

glad you posted, and good night.

Thanks for the update; I was kinda curious where you'd gotten to. I look forward to further dish on what's been keeping you busy.

I went to see Cary last month in Nashville, and he is so lovely. Personally, and musically. I run a LiveJournal community for him, so the two of us had exchanged e-mails previously, and it was really nice to finally meet him and chat. Thanks so much for introducing me to his music, Zach.

You take care, okay? Get enough sleep.

It's wonderful and uplifting to know that no matter how long it is between your posts, as soon as I'm done reading the latest one, I feel all warm and fuzzy inside. I'm thankful to you for sharing your thoughts and opinions with us whenever you have the time. I also really enjoy the music suggestions you post. Thanks! You are truly awesome! I hope one day I'm lucky enough to get to meet you and tell you in person! By the way, I can't wait to check out "Chicken Little." The trailer was funny and cute! Oh, and I got the Scrubs DVD for my birthday and I have really enjoyed watching it. I'm trying to space out the episodes so I can enjoy them to the fullest. What a great show?! It will rock when the rest of the seasons are available...So that's a real bummer about those negative comments being posted. Hopefully whoever they are will get the hint and stop. Anywho...Take care and Godbless. Much love & peace.

Zach,

I just wanted to thank you AGAIN for creating such amazing soundtracks for Garden State and SCRUBS. Without you, I'd have never been introduced to the incredible wonderful fantabulousity that is Colin Hay's solo career. He is incredible. He did a show at a local pub last night and I was fortunate enough to go (with two other people who were also turned on to him via your soundtracks). He was amazing--I wept during half the show and danced through the rest. It was such a great performance. You've really added something to my life (or at least my own personal soundtrack)--THANK YOU!!!

Cheers!

ahhhh -
i was so glad to see that you have returned to bloggin' I had given up hope - just when I had discovered this site not too long ago. I was happy to read that you were moving to NY in the midst of filming - I'm just a small town girl from Virginia going to NYC for her first time TOMORROW and if i'm lucky enough - i'll bump into you- now where exactly in Manhattan? :)

ps - just finished disc 2 of Scrubs - we're trying to make it last as long as possible
pps - tru confesh - i used to love my 'onesies'

You are going to be in NY,, I love NYC then again I grew up in Staten Island so I am not the best judge. It's amazing how I always said I was going to grow up and live in Manhattan and here I am living in a 4 bedroom cape in Jackson, NJ.
Life seems to do that to you I guess. I hadn't been reading the comments sections so didn't realize that people were arguing on here.
Should I say that we will now hope you will post more often and keeps the "natives" from getting restless and arguing over stupid shit.
Thanks for checking in with us Zach,, and ooh,, I recently bought Scubs season 1,, haven't sat down to view yet,, am still working on a few seasons of Stargate SG-1,, I'm a sci-fi geek girl. Later.
