Crystal Village and Lunch with Silent Bob
Dearest Friends,
Hello there. Today is a big day; my last day at home before I leave for Canada for two months. Scrubs has wrapped for the season, I had a couple of weeks off, and now it's time to start "The Last Kiss". Those of you who are truly interested can rent the Italian film, ">"L'ultimo Baccio". That's the film ours is adapted from. Paul Haggis, who wrote "Million Dollar Baby" did the adaptation and I tweaked the dialogue a little bit. I'm really excited about this movie.
I met with Kevin Smith yesterday at his house to discuss "Fletch" and/or other projects. He's such a cool guy. He cooked me lunch! It was really awesome to sit down with someone who's had so much success and still acts like a regular guy from Jersey. I jokingly told him I wanted to make "Garden State" action figures. (Because he's got figures from every one of his movies.) He told me he'd put me in touch with the guy who does his. So who knows, I think it would be pretty cool to have a Sam action figure...
The Gavin video is finally done. You can see it on aol exclusively right now, but it's gonna premiere on TRL next week. So please VOTE for it, so people actually get a chance to see all the hard work that went into it. It stars Gavin, Jamie King and Donald Faison.
Also, the amazing Web Guys who created this site were nominated for a Webby Award for their design. Please VOTE for them to win because they did such an amazing job. (They were the ones who told me what a blog was!) I'm gonna enlist their help to move this blog over to my own site soon. I own www.zachbraff.com and pretty soon I'm going to launch some cool ass thang over there.
I got to speak to my alma mater, Northwestern this past week. It was really surreal to go back and speak to all these students and have them actually interested in what I had to say.
Best birthday present: a drum set.
Freakiest present from a fan: a sweater for my dog with his name sewn into it.
Best show on tv: Project Greenlight on Bravo
Funniest thing I've ever seen: CLICK HERE
Song of the DAY: "Crystal Village" by Pete Yorn
Take a deep breath and realize how completely insane it is that you're alive.
Peace and love,

I'm a big fan of Garden State. This is my first time here, looks like I'm lucky to be near the top, seeing as how there are 10 million posts normally.
Anyway, keep up the good work...and all that other stuff you hear all the time :)
Posted by: drew | Apr 22, 2005 3:16:11 PM
Garden State action figures would be hilarious. I'm glad that you like Pete Yorn also, crystal village is one of my favorite songs. What was the problem with last week's Scrubs 4/19 it just seemed really off, like some writing change. It's my favorite show on TV and usually you guys are always on. I've heard Kevin Smith is really nice. That's it.
Posted by: Aaron | Apr 22, 2005 3:17:33 PM
Wow Zach I'm sooo excited your coming to Canada! I'm sure you'll have a wonderful time in this grand land of ours ^_^ I heard Gavin's song the other day on the radio it is absolutly magnificent and I'll go see him when he's in the Toronto area.
hahahha you should make Garden State action figures! I'd buy all of them and keep them on their own special shelf. I'm sure The Last Kiss will be a hit and I promise to go see it on opening day....though I must confess the movie I'm most excited about seeing is Chicken Little because the animation looks wicked.
By the by any hints for what will happen next season on Scrubs? ^_~
Peace luv and elephant ears!
~Janessa
PS: Elephant ears (aka Beaver Tails) are a common Canadian treat that are super yummy so be sure to try one while you're here.

Have tons of fun in Montreal! I hope you can pick up on some french speaking skills so you can chat with us french-canadians :)
I saw Gavin DeGraw in concert last week and he was amazing, I love the video (best part = NYC coming down in the window + Donald's part, I was so happy when I saw him in the video, haha)

Hi, ZB, I’m writing from Argentina (you know, that country at the other extreme of the continent). Oh oh, I bet you’ve just thought, “Don’t cry for me, Argentina”, didn’t you?
Anyway…
Garden State has not been out on movies theatres here (yet?), but I had the chance to watch it on DVD a couple of weeks ago, and being a screenwriter myself, I just wanted to tell you that I found your movie to be really inspiring for me. And I think that’s the best compliment a storyteller can get.
So you can imagine me watching your film, thinking what a great story, how simple and yet how much layers it has and how beautifully told… then thinking: man, I whish I could write something like that, and finally getting depressed thinking how you’re about my age and you’ve already wrote and directed this movie… who am I kidding? I’ll never be there… Should I keep thanking you?
I’ m just joking. Besides, I’m still a few years younger than you so I have time to make it happen.
I’ve really enjoyed it, identify with the characters, laughed a lot, cry in one part (the hug, when Largeman hugs Sam’s mom) and just because it was genuinely moving not because you manipulate the scene with music, great gestures or anything like that (something I got tired of a long time ago).
Lately I’m all about this kind of movies that tell stories about people, real people… like Sideways or Wes Anderson’s movies (with their strange atmospheres, but still human) or Lost in translation. And I love Charlie Kauffman, isn’t he one of the greatest? I’d like to recommend you an argentine movie that was release in USA: “Lost embrace”, I think you’ll enjoy it. It has some similar points to G.S.
Congratulations on getting your talent on the right track.
Camila.
(B.A, Argentina)

I really appreciate you filling in your fans on what you are up to and new music that you are listening to. I really enjoy checking out the music you suggest. However, I thought that you might enjoy receiving some cool music yourself. You should check out Phoenix, Kasabian, and West Indian Girl. Thay are all really great bands that more people should check out. Thanks again for taking time out of your schedule to keep up this blog! Good luck on your upcoming projects!
Posted by: Jennifer | Apr 22, 2005 3:27:25 PM
fantastic video Zach. A friend of mine sent me the link. She had a few reservations about it (it's definitely not your typical pop music video), I applaude your efforts at putting some bigger ideas in there. The revolving sets and video screen crowd were very postmodern of you ;) good luck on your future projects!

Zach,
I just wanted to let you know how incredible your blog is. It is so nice to see someone of your status (you possibly could have your own action figure, how cool is that?) be so open and honest with their fans.
I also wanted to say thanks for the great musical options, and say as well that you may well have the best musical tastes (or at least most like my own) on the planet. But I have to know.....Ani Difranco, do ya dig her? I can only hope you do as it would possibly make my head explode to hear her in a movie or on Scrubs someday.
Ok, that's it....keep up the fantastic work.

Wow, you're quite the popular kid. Tragically I am at the lower region of the "I heart Zach Braff" totem, but it's the thought that counts right? I've momentarily forgotten the point to this, but I will ramble in hopes that it returns...there it is! Brilliant! First, kuddos to you for kicking ass and taking names in the film industry, keep it up. As for the run away thought that has returned; I use to work at The Wherehouse (during the Garden State era) and recommended it to every person who asked me to pick them out a good movie, and even those who didn't ask. You're soundtrack selection also was well played, we got to pick a cd whenever we worked. It was my usual pick, so much so that we had to open a new one cus I wore the first out. Anyhoo, just wanted to tell you how awesome you are, and you have another fan :) Enjoy life, keep up the good work kid! Don't forget to breathe.

Hello. I only saw Scrubs for the first time today, and my mother (mid-50s, lovely, eccentric as anything) decided immediately that you were prime adoption material. That's probably a compliment, (although she did think Scrubs was a documentary about the NHS).
Uh, anyway, if you DO ever happen to want a British mother who fulfils all conceivable stereotypes, just hop across the pond, I guess.

Zach -
I just have to say that I absolutely love Garden State. The soundtrack rocks too - can't go a day without one of those songs stuck in my head.
I think you are amazing! Also, incredibly hilarious and really hot too!
Keep on posting, we love hearing from you!
So, what did Kevin Smith make for lunch?
Oh, and I think action figures would be so awesome - especially if they came with little garbage bag rain gear!
Have fun in Canada

Garden State action figures? I would want the knight and Kenny the Cop. And of course a Andrew Largeman one. But what would they do as far as the "action" part goes?
Posted by: Ashton | Apr 22, 2005 3:58:37 PM
Zach- the Punk'd show made me laugh so hard that I had an asthma attack each time I showed it to a friend. I was desperately trying to figure out what was on your t-shirt. *sigh* I heart you Zachie.
What is going on with the whole world becoming emo-indie?? Is there like a kit that you can purchase out there somewhere? I'm going to see Iron/Wine next Friday- will be thinking of you while there. Also, there is a legion of ppls that come here every day - I am sure only half the ppl post.
Rental of the week: Sideways, duh.
Anticipated movie: Batman Begins baby.
CD of the month: Bright Eyes...the acoustic cd.
heart,
Christine

and one last comment, i promise. i thought the video was pretty good except for one complaint: the random close-up shots of gavin kind of ruined the whole one-take feel and thus degraded the quality of the video. no offense.

Its my birthday today (not that you care).
Zach you might be interested to know that my college is now studying Garden State in regards to cinematography and 'unspoken meanings'. In otherwords, Garden State is now being compared to The Graduate and Vertigo ... pretty impressive I think.

you know, i was thinking, you must be pretty freaking smart since northwestern is such an awesome school. not that i ever thought you were stupid or anything. but like, were good, persay, in Calculus? or they just really liked you? as a senior whos finally decided where to go to college (Syracuse, goin' into Newhouse communications program), i always speak highly of northwestern (i never applied there since i didnt want to get too far from Long Island), so many props to you for that.

OMG. The ninja! ebaumsworld.com has got to be the funniest website i've ever seen (i'm guessing that's where you got it from) My friends and I watch that ninja at least three times a day. Glad someone else gets a laugh out of it too.
Much love,

Zach,
Hey. So today I went to a bridal shop and tried on a bunch of tiaras and gloves. I think this should be an option at all clothing stores because it was fun to just pretend to be all "proper" and "royal" and talk in a funny voice. I think that's an experience that should be available all the time. Also, the weather has been maad-ridiculous here as far as fluctuation goes. Monday we were warmer than Florida, but now my spring jacket over a sweatshirt still doesn't feel right. What the bitch is up with that?
Posted by: Lacey | Apr 22, 2005 4:05:36 PM
Hey Zach,
Glad to hear that everything is going well with you. I saw Gavin on Muchmusic in Toronto last week. He talked a lot about the video shoot and that it was one long long day but it was great working with you. I can't wait to see it! I hope you enjoy Montreal. It's a beautiful city and has great food. Make sure you check out old Montreal and the biodome. Cool cool stuff. Have a great day!

Also check out Long Way Down by Pete Yorn, I love that song.
It's great that you went back to NU to speak to the students. I'm also an alum and I went back for my 5 year reunion last fall. It was strange but great to be back. I felt so old!
Hope you enjoy Montreal. I'm looking forward to the new movie.
I read online that next season may be the last one for Scrubs. Say it aint so?!

Zach -
A couple things you should check out while in Montreal:
Tams Tams on Parc Ave every sunday morning, tons of people hanging out and jamming on their bongos.
Beauty's - classic Jewish diner reminiscent of Mordecai Richler
McGill's campus
Fairmount Bagels, best in the world
The Olympic stadium, if that's your kind of thing.
Have fun - it's my favourite city in the whole world!!

I would die to meet Kevin Smith. You have to pay a visit to Jay & Silent Bob's Secret Stash in Red Bank, NJ....possibly the most awesome comic book store ever.
And I'm so glad you're going to keep the blog going....it really brightens my day.
Looks like I might actually have to watch TRL....for Gavin's video and another video premiere (hopefully they'll premiere next week, but who knows....I hate that show).
And I'm still recommending Common Rotation to you....I think you should check them out. Great band.
Ok...enough out of me. Have fun in Canada. Don't do anything we at the blog wouldn't do (although that isn't much)....

Hey Zach,
thats awesome with the Gavin Video, I am actually about to go watch it, I saw some raw footage from it the other day, I am a big fan of Gavin and so I am on the street team there, so they give us little extras here and there. Hell yeah a Sam Action figure would rock. You know I wrote this last time and don't know if you got it...But I really like your taste in music and I honestly think you would like this Band from the Area I live in, Dallas, TX. The Band is Called SouthFM, Seriously if you want to hear some really good music by a band that is not signed but will be soon, check them out. I know your blog reaches many peoples with similar music tastes and it would be way cool for many other people to hear about this band and listen to their music, I have been a fan since 2002.
Their Website is: http://www.southfm.com
They have a myspace page: http://www.myspace.com/southfm
You can listen to 4 songs on their Myspace, or you can download two songs from here:
http://www.southfm.com/free
ok now that I have bored you and sound like a complete freak trying to get you to listen to a band I really like, I will take my Leave. Hope you have a Fantastic Day, and I will be looking for you to be in some great upcoming things, until then their is always Garden State and Scrubs, which I have a friend tape for me every week cause I don't have cable any more and I love the show.

I have a lot of the merchandise that Kevin Smith has put out for his movies. I've loved him for a long time. GS figures could be cool - you could accessorize them (can you tell I'm a girl?)...
I'll have to go watch the Gavin video now. Have fun in the North!

I love seeing people fall on their asses. I don't know why but I laugh and laugh and laugh. Did I mention laugh? Thanks for the chuckle.
Break a leg on "The Last Kiss" But not good luck because that = bad luck. And make sure you park backwards in the parking lot or does that only work with theater. Ah the fun superstitions of theater nerds. :D Do people even do this anymore?
Its great that you and Kevin will be working together. I can see things working out very well with you two. The Jersey Boys (not to be confused with Jersey Girl. Although also related to Kevin Smith :D )
Okay I think I've jabbered enough. C-ya and again Break a leg in Canada

First of all, let me say that I saw Garden State two days ago for the first time. I had been wanting to see it for quite awhile, and it was amazing. I loved every bit of it! You did a great job on it and you should be really proud. =]
Garden State action figures would be so hilarious...I think I would have to buy them all...haha.
Scrubs is also quite great. I enjoy all the episodes...they make me laugh, which I suppose is the purpose...so good job! =P
I think you're great and I cant wait to read what you post next.

Only saw Garden State on Wednesday because Northern Ireland is fucked up and apparently we don't deserve to get movies at the same time as the rest of the UK. United Kingdom of Great Britain AND Northern Ireland you fucks!
Have been waiting for more time than I can remember to see it, since Empire magazine recommended the trailer, and I have to say that it was well worth the wait, even if I did go a bit crazy and started randomly killing cinema employees. Sorry guys.
Anywho, just wanted to say I loved the movie before there are like 20 billion comments on here.
Peace and love

love the gavin video. you did a great job with that.
Posted by: Jen | Apr 22, 2005 4:52:36 PM
Zach,
First, I must say, the video looks a-frigging-mazing! I fell in love with Gavin when I saw him on Sharon Osbournes show before it seemed most of the world knew who he was. I am so glad good things are happening for such a stellar artist! Kudos to you for working with him and making such a visually wonderful video to accompany his song! The rotating sets helped create some of the fabulous effects and you don't see a lot of that sort of creative work in current videos! Okay, enough with the exclamation points. I can stop anytime I want, honestly. Yup! Oh, crap. There was another one. Can we pretend you didn't see it? Thanks...
Anyway, I hope everything goes wonderfully for you in Canada! (Again with the ignoring, please.) I think the action figures would be the best idea ever. What better way to show your love for a film than to have tiny plastic replicas of the characters. And think of the "accessory" potential! (I give up.) Can Mark's action figure come with a tiny binder of Desert Storm trading cards? Oh, the ideas are-a flowin'! ;)
By the way, thanks for the word about Lori McKenna! I went to her site and got some of the MP3s she has available and she is so, so talented! I will be getting at least one of her CDs very, very soon. :)

Yoooowza--is that how you spell it? I always find its difficult to spell sounds--I can't believe I'm one of the first to comment! (how bored are you of reading people say that?) I've been watching Scrubs lately and every episode makes me crack up more than the previous one. Everyone is so butt-frickin' funny I can't stand it. Most nights I think I might pee my pants. Seriously I bought a thing of Depends and marked them Tuesday, 9pm.
Eventhough I don't really like Gavin DeGraw I'm looking forward to seeing the video you shot. Maybe I will like this song better. I hope your movie shoot goes well...I'm sure it will it sounds like an interesting project.
I'm still straping people down (not really) and getting them to watch GS. What can I say...it speaks to my heart man! (If you read that like a stoned hippie it sounds a lot funnier).
Best of Luck. Looking forward to your Sweet ass Thang, and the action figures--I've never had any, cause well I'm a girl, but I might have a change of heart and think they are cool =D

Hey Zach....
I am actually listening to GS right now. The ice skating piece. I am writing a paper on the narrative structure of GS. It is amazing to hear and see how the story is protrayed to the audience. The sounds and editing are the two most important parts of how the story is told. The soundtrack is simply incredible. I saw Cary Borthers on tour a few weeks ago and he was so amazing. He mentioned being on the soundtrack, and the bar scene where the song is playing popped into my head. I think that your movie is amazing, and I have been inspired to start writing my own films. I have started treatments for an amazing adaptation that i am currently writing. I am a film major, and it is really hard to come by amazing filmmakers. Thank you for an excellent addition to the industry. I hope your movie shoot in Montreal goes well. Keep up all the great work. I look forward to your next movie!

i just watched the gavin video on AOL exclusive, and i thought it was really creative. i loved how the sets kept flowing and changing.
actually i went to one of gavins concerts a while ago, and he is so amazing live. im sure you know he's a really cool guy -- after the show he hung around with the fans. i wish they didn't play his 'i dont wanna be' over and over on the radio. it made me sick of it, and he has so many better songs out there, like "belief" and "chemical party."
cool, i didnt know you went to northwestern. some of my friends are going there next year.

Hi Zach,
Since you'll be spending time in Montreal, I thought I'd introduce you to some Canadian music to get you ready. This way, you'll have more to talk about with Canadians than, say, how good maple syrup tastes on everything, dog sleds, politeness, spelling colour with a 'u', and the absence of hockey. Check out K-OS and his album Joyful Rebellion, with special attention paid to his beautiful song, "Hallelujah". Enjoy Montreal, and trust me, do NOT eat the donairs. You'll see...

You'll love Canada! I know, because I live here. Plus it's not even cold anymore! Yaaay!
I saw you in some magazine with your dog, and he is SO cute. My dog barked at the picture, I think she wants his body.
That video's pretty funny, but check this shit out: http://www.big-boys.com/articles/numanuma.html
It WINS at random hilarity!
Now, let's see, things to do while in Montreal...well, if you're into that, there's tons of porn. And shopping on St. Catherine street. And getting totally lost in the dark in the trashy section of the city, complete with "wanted" and "lost" posters, trying to find your way to the movies. Or maybe that's just what *I* do while in Montreal...
You know what? Honestly, the first time I saw your movie made me realize how insane it is that I'm alive. And I have completely random moments of "wow" every so often. And - this is completely unrelated, but I was reminded of it - you know how there's no possible way you can remember every single moment? For example, walking in the door of your house; you remember doing it, but you don't remember every single time you've done it. And I wonder how many little random moments like that have gotten lost somewhere. It's like there are tiny, insignificant (we assume) bits of us that have just disappeared.
Oh man, that was so random, sorry about that. XP
You're amazing, have fun in Montreal! :)

Ummm, you know if you didn't like the dog sweater you totally could have sent it back. Just kidding! That wasn't me!
So, Canada, eh? I hear it's beautiful up there this time of year, but I think you should make your next film in San Diego. No really, I'll give you my own random, fun & quirky tour of the town. It'll be fun!
No? I thought that sounded a little stalker-ish.
And I would totally buy a Large action figure. Can you get the dog (complete with humping action & "lipstick")?
Thanks for keeping with this blog. You rock!
Peace & love,
Katie

Have fun in Canada! Good luck making "The Last Kiss". I can't wait to see some new work from you.
I want a Sam and Large action figure! How rad.
"Take a deep breath and realize how completely insane it is that you're alive." How true and simple that is.

I hope you don't get tired of hearing how great "Garden State" was. I really enjoyed it. I did all the things a good movie is supposed to make you do, watching it. Laugh, cry, and buy the damn soundtrack as soon as the credits start rolling. And to be honest, that is the only soundtrack that I have ever heard that I have liked every single song on there.
Anyhoo, thank you for continuing to post. I like reading about your adventures. You're so much fun to read.
I vote for Garden State action figures! Definitely need the guy with the armor - oh and PLEASE give us Largeman with 'BALLS' written on his forehead...I *want* that hanging from my rearview mirror...kidding.
Oooo - what about creating a series of Garden State Dixiecups, Zach? Tear-catchers, baybee.
Much love from the Minnesota State,
Bri

Zach,
have a great time in Canada, pack some stuff for cool weather. It's great to escape there for the summer, I usually like to head North to escape the hot town, summer in the city here in the Mid-Atlantics. Your project sounds great. Groove on your creative juices and enjoy the moment! I've been doing just that in my garden. Listen to "Gracie" off the new Ben Folds. Peace.

Awesome that you are meeting with Kevin about Fletch. I have been reading his Boring Ass Life. It's pretty funny and cannot believes he is that in depth with what he does from day to day. It's obvious he loves to write. You on the otherhand seem to fly by the seat of your pants and chime in when you have pretty important stuff to tell us, which is great. Thank you, I like your pants.
Tell us aboot how the films going when you can eh.
Like my Canadian accent?
Your fogs,

I am continually impressed every time you post. I LOVE it! I just think its so great to beable to be up dated on everything you've got going on. I really think you are great and I'm sure you get quite enough ego boosts every time you read these notes so I wont gush but lets just say I really admire your life and I'd LOVE to have a Zach Braff action figgure. Have fun in Canada, eh?

Hey Zach Braff. I just wanted to tell you that all my friends think that this blog is totally written by a publicist. But I believe. And they continue to laugh.

So I just bought "The Passion of Ayn Rand" off eBay. I guess it was a showtime movie. I'm a huge Randist. It's based on a true story. Not enough Rand books are movies right now. There was an attempt at "The Fountainhead," but I think the cinema was all wrong.
Someone owns the rights to "Atlas Shrugged" but I think plans on that are rather stagnant. There's a "We the Living" Italian independent film made in 1942 without rights... later cut in the 80s for distribution in the US.
You should work on making a better modern-day Fountainhead. that'd kick ass.
If you read this comment, you should write me back with some non sequitur. It'd be neat.

Garden State Action Figures *SO* need to happen now!
Then we can all finally play out our "Large Meets Jay and Silent Bob" scenarios!
That would be wicked...

Hmm...my school probably has "L'ultimo Baccio" at the Language Learning Center. Since I just happen to be an Italian major, maybe I'll check it out... I'm sure it'll be way cooler in English though!

OMG, i can't stop laughing! that WAS the funniest thing i've ever seen! where the heck was that clip from?

And, have fun in canada!

Hmmm... this was the first week in almost a year that I missed an episode of Scrubs. I was really on the verge of tears. That is just sad.
If there were GS action figures... oh my life would be complete! I would set up new scenes everyday and make my own little Garden State. You know, Garden State 2: The Wedding!
You should make different outfits for them.
I love Gavin's video! You did a great job! BTW... I saw you on Entertainment Tonight a few weeks ago talking about it. It made me pretty happy.
Okay, gotta go. My dog has decided to "sing". Yes, I have a singing dog. It sounds like Chewbaka.

Great to hear from you again Zach! I look forward to your new site and new projects. Project Greenlight is one of my favorite shows. I watch it every week. Hey I got a song recommendation for you. "Way to Fall" by Starsailor. PLEASE say something if you like it (pretty please). Anyhoo, I'll try to vote for the video and site, and yes, a Sam figure would be AWESOME, haha. Talk to you later.

Grrr... I checked this thing like, every day since your last entry hoping to be higher on the list of posts, and dang it! Ya slipped one in there when I wasn't looking! Anyway, nice to hear from ya. I have AOL, and I will go check out Gavin's video. Happy be-lated B-day! :) Hope it was a good one. Can't wait for you to get the site off the ground, and can't wait for the movie. I think Garden State actions figures would be awesome, but I might be a little naughty with yours...lol Just kidding. Ouch, that video looked like it hurt. At least he attempted a backflip, I can't even do a cartwheel. :P I voted in the Webby Awards, so I hope this blog wins. Anyway, Scrubs has been great, and you were awesome on Arrested Development! Band you should hear: Lifehouse. I think you would like them, they have three albums out but I think you'd like the second one, Stanley Climbfall (weird name I know) the best. Anyway, check em out.
Til next time,
Luv, cute butts, and puppy guts, Kat :P

You know, there must be something in the waters of Jersey because, look at you, Kevin AND the guys from My Chemical Romance! You're all talent and beautiful! ( Kevin is beautiful in his own slient/mostly not so slient/ way) I LOVE Kevin Smith, Clerks is one of the funniest movie in the 90's.
And I love the Garvin DeGraw video, it's really really well made. I love it! Also loved the Donald Faison spot in the video :)
Speaking of videoes, wouldn't it be amazing if you had the chance to direct a Shins or Flaming Lips video? Yes, it would be amazingly fantastic!
Lastly, good luck and have fun with "Last Kiss", I can't wait to see you and Rachel Bilson on the same screen space :)
Oh yeah, it is absolutely insane that we're still alive.
And chck out Bloc Party!!!! They're the new gods of music! (Well, after The Hives, anyway)
Love and lots of geeky fandom worship, Asha.

I had to leave your NU talk for a voice lesson right after you started explaining that scene you left off the DVD. (Luckily, the other 4,000 theatre majors filled me in.) But you apologized for the studio 22 film, and I thought it was funny, and pretty, and...I love the optimism that's present in your work. Yeah, that had to be said.
As for Dean Martin, she put two generations of my family through hell. And rumor has it, when Heather Headley was a credit short and wanted to graduate before leaving to play AIDA on broadway, guess who said 'no'?
Enough about NU. If someone (me), wanted to actually send you a song, how could they do that?
Safe travels, and matzoh ball soup to you.
smiles,
allie

As always, Scrubs = rockin.
Can't wait to see your next project.
Lovely work on the Gavin DeGraw video! Much better than his previous endeavor... no offense to DeGraw of course- technically it was great, but conceptually... a little weak...
Anyhow, keep up the amazing work!

Zach,
It's so great that you are still writing to us all here. I know I appreciate it and I'm sure everyone else dose as well. Having Kevin Smith make you lunch, eh? YOU HAVE ARRIVED! haha. Good luck with the movie.
A music recommendation for you: Joel Plaskett or the Joel Plaskett Emergency Band. He and they are from canada. Good stuff. To me at least....

You are going to like Canada - Montreal especially is a cool and very chill city. Thanks for the link to that video... hahaha it gave me a good laugh. I think the fact that you're continuing updating your blog for so long and even moving it to your own site is amazing. This is why you've got such dedicated fans - you really know how to treat us. You're amazing, Zach :)
