Joshua Radin

Thank you all for your kind get well messages. Still have a cough that won't quit. That Nyquil sure is tasty though, huh? It's amazing when you're sick how many sure-fire remedies you get from people. One woman told me to eat an entire lemon, rine and all. I've taken 4000 vitamins and tonics and herbs, but I've still got a cough that rattles windows.

I wanted to let all of you in the Los Angeles area know that the amazingly talented Joshua Radin is performing at the Hotel Cafe tonight (THURSDAY 10/14) @ 9:00 sharp. For those of you who don't know who he is, check out www.joshuaradin.com His song Winter was featured on Scrubs and afterwards it was downloaded more than any song that's ever been on the show. Cary Brothers is even playing guitar with him, so it promises to be a very cool show. I'm a big fan of pimping new talent and I think Joshua is gonna be huge. See him now while he's still unsigned and has no burly bodyguards keeping him from signing your breasts.

Hotel Cafe
1623 1/2 N. Cahuenga Blvd.
(Hollywood-Selma)

I'll write more when I'm healthy...

xxxxxxxx and one o,

ZB

First! get in! that is all.

Am I first? Woo :) Have checked out Cary Brothers on your recommendation and am quite simply stunned. Hope the rest of the world cops on to his music soon or they will be very seriously deprived. And on the health front: manuka honey is great for coughs, but don't take more than 3 spoons a day because, healing and all as it is, it's also quite a powerful laxative. I know. Charming. :)

Posted by: Cath in Amsterdam | Oct 14, 2004 6:37:44 AM

First!

Zach, you're the best. For real. I can't believe that you made the film you did. It's simply amazing. Keep making films and keep improving the lives of thousands across the globe.

Posted by: Chase Shutak | Oct 14, 2004 6:37:55 AM

Awesome, I'm the first comment, lol. NyQuil sure is tasty. I'm sorry you still have a cough, ave u visited the doctor? I promis you won't have to turn and cough. It could be bronchitis, but I doubt it. Get some throat drops. Now THATS some tasty stuff. Take care and feel better!

Posted by: Ashley | Oct 14, 2004 6:38:10 AM

Zach, I haven't been able to comment close enough to the top, so this is really cool. Waking up early for class has some benefits I guess. I'm an NYU film student pretty far from home, homesick and lonely and whatnot. Anyshit, all my friends and I listen to the "Garden State" soundtrack constantly, it's one of the few things that makes me feel emotionally connected to my "idea of home". Thank you so much for that. Can't wait for the DVD! -Brett

Posted by: Brett | Oct 14, 2004 6:39:24 AM

o_O

i will check him out.
Get well soon btw.

Posted by: kris lei | Oct 14, 2004 6:40:54 AM

Dude, seriously you just need to sleep it off. No medicine... just sleep.

Posted by: Marz | Oct 14, 2004 6:41:48 AM

Zach, I've got one of those coughs too... I've decided rather than keep up the futile fight to beat it, I'll embrace it and tell people it's the new cool... yo, coughing makes ya gangsta, yo, I'm on the edge I could crack, or cough, at any moment... yeah, no one's bought it yet...

Dude i can't wait for your film to come out here in Australia.

Oh and if you want an Australian band to check out you should look at Something For Kate.

Posted by: Ben | Oct 14, 2004 6:44:33 AM

I'm definitely going to check out those song recommendations, thanks for posting all of them. Rachael Yamagata was awesome! Got a recommendation for you: "Don't Leave the Light on Baby" by Belle and Sebastian. Of course, I love all their stuff, but that is one of my favorite songs of all time. It's in the iTunes music store.

By the way, I can't wait for the baseball season to be over so my boyfriend will let me watch Scrubs again! He's killing me! Looking forward to the DVD!

Feel better!

OH MY GOSH! I'm like the 20th Comment! Yippee! Zach, you are funny.

Posted by: dominique | Oct 14, 2004 6:47:08 AM

I'll agree with that "benefits to having a morning class" statement...Comment 8 or 9--this is a big moment for me. ;)

SO flippin many people are sick! But Zach, please don't tell me you're sick enough to consider eating a lemon rine. If so, check into a hospital or something...

Ah, I just love you.

Posted by: Serena | Oct 14, 2004 6:48:32 AM

Hey Zach...
Can you fill us in when these guys are playing in NYC area?!?! If they do that is. I appreciate your recommendations but I can never take you up on them...sucks. They're always in LA LA Land.

I have said it three times a lot of different ways on this blog...but I am in love with your amazing film. I truly had an impact on me.

Hope you feel better ;)

I am a doctor, come and see me, i will fix you.

After my initial first post glory i thought of a question:

have you seen the british zombie movie 'Shawn of the Dead'? if so, what did you think?

I'm an avid Simon pegg fan, I've followed and loved his work for years and years. Your alright too I guess.

Posted by: Scottish Kevin | Oct 14, 2004 6:49:13 AM

Sorry, one more remedy: sit in the bathroom with the hot shower going & breathe in the steam for about half an hour while you read erotica and do whatever comes naturally. Then sweat out the toxins in bed while you nap. Two birds, one steam. Drink lots of water.

I admire your brain.

oh! and don't let any old ladies scare you like that..no matter how hot they are.

I'm trying not to get sick, because I am going to go to New Orleans this weekend to see a bunch of kick ass bands at the Voodoo Music Fest. But everyone at my cubicle farm work has allergies and sinus stuff happening.

Love your movie. I can't wait to buy it on DVD and watch the extra "stuff". Everyone I know here in Birminhgam, AL loves the movie. Please make more.

Posted by: Beth | Oct 14, 2004 6:51:03 AM

I meant IT had an huge impact on me....

Posted by: jessica | Oct 14, 2004 6:52:51 AM

I wish there were a theatre close to this town that would play Garden State. Looks like I'll have to wait till Dec 28th, and judging from the comments and the fan base, I think I'll just buy the DVD right away.

Love Scrubs Zach, looking forward to 408.

Cheers

Feel better soon!

I don't have much of a point in commenting here except that I've never seen it with so few, and I've never commented before. So... I'll thank you for your movie, and especially that my best friend has finally just seen it and she is in a current state of bliss and that makes me happy, too :)

Posted by: Dena | Oct 14, 2004 6:53:28 AM

Zach, thanks for "pimping new talent"! I bought Rachael Yamagata's "Happenstance". It's one of those cd's that you can listen to over and over and you're not quite sure if you like the whole cd, but then realize you're singling along to every song! Keep the "tricks" coming!
Gutted no "Garden State" DVD before Christmas, ach well, what can you do?

Feel better... or should I say suck a lemon or two and then you'll feel better.

One more thing... I just saw the Scrubs episode, the Farewell to John Ritter. I am not sure if Canada is behind in airing the episodes, but it was a great tribute to a legend. Tastefully done in the "Scrubs" way.
PS. Can we expect to see more of Tom Cavanaugh? Love him!

Posted by: Barb | Oct 14, 2004 6:53:41 AM

hey...just wanted to say, first, that you should take the NyQuil caplets. i never drink the liquid anymore, even though it does taste so good. :) also, i was so excited to see the title of this poist bc i was one of the many people who downloaded the song called winter. and then i got rid of that computer and now i can't find it on itunes...so i am at a loss. but i was just thinking about that song on tuesday when i watched the new scrubs (which was so good) and the plot reminded me a little of the episode that had winter in it... i wish i still lived in LA so i could go to the show, it sounds so awesome.
XO bummed in boston. :)
p.s. thanks for all the music recommendations...i haven't been let down by a single one.

Posted by: maital | Oct 14, 2004 6:54:09 AM

Believe me, if I was anywhere near LA, I definitely would! I ordered Josh's CD and I *adore* his cover of Girlfriend in a Coma, and that's coming from a big Smiths fan!

Stop posting here and get better! (actually don't stop posting, just get better :D)

Any news on the types of UK shows you'll be appearing on? Are you still coming over at the end of October since the UK release date isn't til December now?

*stops firing the poor sick guy with questions*

Posted by: Rach | Oct 14, 2004 6:55:27 AM

Hey Zach,

I feel your pain.. I'm sick too. Damn you! Why did you get me sick? ;)

Here's to less coughing and feeling better -
