Quick Post
Sorry for the quick post. But I'm on set with my Blackberry, so I thought I'd answer a very oft asked question: Is there new music I can recommend in addition to what's on the soundtrack?
Here are my 3 favorite new artists and their web sites:
I'm very proud to call all 3 of them my friends. I think they're gonna be huge once the world discovers them. So go check out their sites if you get a chance.
Friday is a big day; the films first major expansion to new cities. I hope you all enjoy...

Zach,
Movies like Garden State make people want to become artists. Great work, and I can't wait to see everything else you put out there.

Zach, this looks like a great film. Can't wait to see it. The trailer is perfect. Best of luck to you on this.

Hey! I saw a sneak preview of this movie in Chicago, and it was just really compelling and touching, and just had so so much going for it, especially as a debut film. Reminded me a bit of The Graduate though a bit more on the optimistic-side (I'm sure you get that a lot). The screening was totally full, and I think they had to turn people away so I'm sure it'll do really well this weekend in the expanded cities. Good luck with all that, and once again, I really enjoyed your film and hope to see great work from you in the future.

Hey Zach...I've been following Garden State since the Sundance buzz, and it looks like tomorrow is the day in Toronto to FINALLY get to see it! Congratulations on all the success and publicity (Spin, Entertainment Weekly, Letterman, all over TV, etc.)...I'm in University for Film Production right now, and I'm sure this movie will stand as one of the year's best, as well as a great inspiration to all those aspiring directors/screenwriters out there...If you ever wanna give me some much appreciated tips and pointers, track me down.....Until then, how do I marry Natalie Portman and have her children? Just wondering...Thanks for the bloggin'!

I can not wait to see Garden State. I've been waiting/wanting to see this film ever since I first saw the trailer =). It looks brilliant.
Anyways, thank you so much for making these posts and what not. It's way awesome!

Zach,
I simply do not know where to begin, so I will keep it simple:
GARDEN STATE is a beautiful, deeply truthful film...you so completely encapsulated the disconnectedness of the late 20s that so many of us experience until we find, build, or borrow or new home.
I'm very much looking forward to whatever your next project may be, and I wish you nothing but the very best success.
And btw, should you find yourself feeling a little Julia Roberts'ed in Barney's or Bloomie's or wherever, let me know. I'm enough of a fashionista to make *sure* that salespeople are there asap :)
Be well, Peace, and Thank you for the gift that GARDEN STATE is...

I haven't seen your movie yet because its not out in San Jose yet, but I'll be sure to see it when it does.
On another note, I was wondering if you helped choose some the songs in "Scrubs" because some of the songs and artists on the "Garden State" soundtrack are the same as the ones on "Scrubs".
Arltie, thanks for putting in so much effort to promote your movie!

I've heard songs by Gavin DeGraw and he's great so I definitely plan to check out the other artists.
Can't wait to see your movie!! I'm sure it's gonna do well at the box office!
Have a good weekend!

Dear Zach,
just wanted to report to you and tell you how much your film has stuck with me. It gives me a lot of hope as an artist and as a person. I feel like there are millions of guys like us, regular guys with this big ball of something...something inside our gut that is so hard to get out sometimes and is so hard to figure out why it's there and is just so hard trying to translate what it's trying to say...and you're movie and your character is such a tribute to us. I don't know, but the wandering artists of the world, the people who are only sure of how confused they are, they have something now.
Thanks for giving me that

ive been dying to see this movie for about 5 months now. something about it and the trailers and the songs, especially "let go", that drew me into it.
its 1:47am, and im staying up becuase im watching you, zach, on last call with carson daly. carson annoys the shit out of me, but youre great.
the movie comes out tomorrow(or today) in my dear town of boston. at first i thought it was only playing in NY and LA, and was actually half-way to planning my trip to NY just to see it.
anyways, youre great, and im sure the movie is wonderful. keep up the good work.

I had to delay seeing Garden State from tomorrow until Sunday, in order to see it with the friend that turned me into a huge fan. I can't wait, I'm getting jumpy just thinking about it. Oh, and just saw your appearance on Carson Daly. Normally, I wouldn't watch Carson, but... well, you get the picture.

Hi Zach! I'm Era. I checked out your film in Maplewood the day after it opened. Everyone said you were there the day of, I'm sorry I missed it. Garden State is phenomenal. I just wanted to say thanks for giving everyone this great film and sharing your dream with us.
And you have incredible musical taste. I'm so glad that other people now get the chance to listen to more Remy Zero, The Shins, Frou Frou and The Postal Service (or at least the cover of it). I'm sure everyone would love to keep reading your recommendations. Thanks again and have a great day!
