Mother Mary Snow Globe
I'm sitting in the fake gift shop on the set of Scrubs [which does indeed sell Mother Mary Snow Globes] and I thought I'd take a second to say hello.
So many new people have been checking out the site after this last weekend's expansion. I can't thank you guys enough for all the amazing comments you've been posting. I am so amazed at how many of you have been so deeply affected by the film. It makes all of us who worked so hard on it for so long feel incredibly lucky that we had the chance to pull it off.
There's a new episode of "Pat Crafty" up on the Making Of section of the site. So check it out if you get a chance.
Talk to you soon,
ZB
PS: hilarious Ali G last night. The man's a genius.

Hey Zach-
I saw Garden State yesterday. It was incredible. I loved every minute of it and during the credits, I just sat there taking it all in.
I can't wait to see it again.

i laughed so hard watching ali g i nearly threw up. ;) it's almost hard to watch sometimes i'm so embarassed for his interviewees.
saw gs again with a friend who wanted to see it. i love the sublety in your writing. it's never in your face and you leave everything to the audience. nice.
hope you're having fun on set. don't forget to keep writing. -r.flores

Hey Zach-
I doubt you'll get this far down :D only joking.
Anyway keep up the good work, I just got the soundtrack and its ace some real great choices on there and a consistent tone throughout. It will be playing in my car...once I get one.
Anyway any tidbits from the scrubs set or any gossip?

hey zach, i read this all the time, but never post on it. too afraid i'll just write what everyone else has written, which i probably will do here anyway- so i apologize in advance. i just wanted to say thank you for making this film. it's beautiful and i could relate to it more than any film i've seen. i know you've heard this thousands of times, but i'm sure it feels nice everytime someone says it. i can't really thank you enough for this movie, but this will have to do. thank you

Garden State is finally coming to Vancouver BC in 4 days! whoohooo, keep up the great work with Scrubs :) 2 Questions - 1) have you decided whether or not you will build a personal homepage? 2) Just out of curiosity, besides Ali G, do you watch any other TV shows (any reality shows)?

you're special and so is your movie. and mother mary snow globes. you have all my love.

You're pretty...
And the committee voted, they think you should take me out and show me the sights of Los Angeles since I am the new kid in town.

Zach -
As I sat watching your flick (do I really need to mention that I LOVED it? Well, I did), I was struck by how thoughtful and beautiful it is and how big of an accomplishment it is for someone your age to have written, directed, AND starred in it. I was thrilled to see that you have so much talent. I can't wait to see what else you will do in the future. And as someone who listens mostly to indie music - GREAT music choices! It was great to hear some of the stuff I listen to on the big screen. Congratulations and all the best.

This might not affect me going to Garden State since it's mostly a Fox picture. But did you know Miramax is laying off 35% of their staff.

have you guys been checking out garden state's reviews on rotten tomatoes? it's doing really well and this one guy even calls it a defining movie for a generation!

I am still waiting for Garden State to come to my town. Rumor is this weekend.
I want to say thanks for introducing me to so many great bands. The soundtrack is like a little taste and now I am scouring the local music stores looking for more.

I read your blog the other day. you wrote that your brother has a book coming out. I read the synopsis on Amazon... very excited about it. Looks like genius runs in the family. Btw, where can one get tickets to see a taping of scrubs? My mom and I adore the show. Once again, you're great. Peace.

I was stunned by the trailor for Garden State when it showed up before Eternal Sunshine. The minute it was over I said "when can I see that!?" I forgot all about the movie I was about to see and was distracted the entire time by the beauty of your teaser. I was so haunted by it that I felt anxious and something about it just stuck with me. I came across the book Garden State by Rick Moody and thinking it must have something to do with that mezmerizing preview I read it and was both confused and dissapointed. I wondered how such a dull and lifeless book could be turned into the explosion of life I'd seen on the screen. I was SO relieved when I learned the two were totally unrelated.
I saw Garden State this weekend and the movie was like an extended version of that perfect trailor. I don't understand how it's possible that I was the only one in the theater openly weeping as I walked out the door. Thanks so much for this movie but you suck for making me look like such a girly girl.

Zach,
Great film! I almost got to see it in Aspen, but it was impossible to get in, even with my pass. Needless to say, I had been waiting anxiously to see it since and have seen it twice thus far. I'm in love with this movie in every way. The acting was superb and the writing and directing was just brilliant! Please continue to make movies.

i haven't seen the movie yet (it comes out friday here) but i feel like i should be thanking you in advance. this site is awesome...thanks for taking the time to blog every day! i love your taste in music too. it's great that you wrote, directed AND starred in this. i'm interested in writing and directing...any pointers? anyways, can't wait to see the film!
p.s. i admire that you followed your dreams (which is harder than it seems sometimes) and you want to make films that actually mean something. thanks for that

Hey Zach!
Of all the nights to miss the Ali G. Show, I had to miss last night's. Ah well, I think it reruns during the week so I'll catch it then. I still have yet to see Garden State but most likely I'll get to see it this week. I can't wait! I hope Scrubs is going well, when does it premiere? Have an awesome day and post again soon!

heyyy. kudos on all these rave comments from your movie. i still have yet to see it. i'm going back to school on the 20th and there's really no where near me that it's playing at. the closest is about an hour away. i already got a group of friends who said they wanted to go.
so excited about the new season of scrubs!
live it up

I can't wait until the new season of Scrubs starts! And I can't wait for August 20, when Garden State FINALLY comes to me. I've heard wonderful things about it and it's only making it harder to wait. But I shall survive.
I'm so happy for you, Zach. Ever since I started watching Scrubs, you're one of those guys that I had really hoped would do well, and needless to say, you are doing more than well.
Keep up the good work. And oh yeah, Ali G is the man...I spent some time in England a couple years ago and that was one of my favorite shows there.
